Versilia is the most famous seaside destination of the Tuscan coast and it lies on the north western border of the province of Lucca (below Carrara). It is well known and recognized as being a very fashionable part of the Tuscan Riviera, where VIPs often go but it also attracts many people for its summer nightlife with many of its clubs and discos staying open all night.

The beaches along this part of the coastline are sandy ,entering the sea very pleasantly. This makes it particularly appealing to families with small children during the day. There are also no lack of shops and restaurants on the seafront. The principal towns of Versilia are Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Marina di Pietrasanta and Lido di Camaiore.
